Random pebbles of wisdom, randomness and rambles

Entry 1: Beginnings

First off I want to thank you for reading this, this is all new to me but I love the idea of the old internet still thriving behind the wall of social media, adverts and attention grabbing apps

I only started doing this as I discovered a video on YouTube titled "A Web Revival: the Internet didn't die, you're just not on it". It instantly caught my attention and watched. This made me smile seeing that other people feel how I feel. What is it I feel? Well for a while now I have been obsessed with the aesthetics of old internet like frutiger aero, I kept thinking about it and couldn't think what this itch I had was. To this day I don't fully understand it but from what I have worked through in my ol' brain is that I really like the look and feel of what the early internet was, A time where it was hopeful and magical. This is something that has been lost over the years with the rise of tons of apps and the minds behind it doing everything they can to steal your attention. It was all part of a journey of coming away from social media and changing my relationship with my phone (I'll talk about this in another entry). Learning to code, make this little space of mine and potentially meeting new people who feel the same is an amazing sounding journey. As you can probably see if you are reading this on (29.05.26) the website is looking a bit bare for now but I am hoping to learn more, expand it and turn it into a nice little place to rest on your adventure surfing the web!

I've spoken a little about myself already on the first page but let me tell you a little bit more

I work at Amazon as a Trainer, I enjoy my job a lot as I get to help out my team with training and coaching. I also work with an amazing team too. I've been there almost five years now and don't see myself moving anytime soon. I mentioned my music taste various and it does! Currently I'm listening to a lot of pop punk, especially Blink - 182, Enema of the state is a great album! I'm listening to it as I am typing this. I have oddly specific tastes sometimes too like 80s Japanese citypop. Another popular genre for me right now is Vaporwave, I guess you can kind of see themes here. A lot of what I like all ties back to it being from the early days of modern tech. I do like some modern music, a band I love and saw live recently was Creeper.

Another little tidbit is I am not opposed to new or modern tech, some of it is really great. I think I'm adopting the lifestyle of choosing what technologies I introduce and what role it will take. For example I switched Spotify for collecting CDs and ripping them to an old Ipod I had. Being intentional with the music I picked rather than having infinite choice and algorithms shoving things in my face has helped me develop a good relationship with music and I've actually discovered music I would not have found otherwise!

Okay I'll wrap it up here for now, I have tons I can talk about but wanna keep things organised with topics. Again thank you for taking the time to read this! I hope you have an amazing day and if you see a magpie today, don't forget to salute or greet them
